You appear to be dismissing the overwhelming support from current and former players who think EE is an amazing coach and person who they admire. By implying that at least some are 'victims who won't speak up' even though they witnessed serious abuse first hand.
I just strongly disagree.
It's really hard to discuss this without specific examples. But I almost guarantee if we were discussing specific examples, they would still likely be open to interpretation, except on the extreme edges. Let me give you one example. You suggested something like 'overworking players to dangerous levels'. Is that a serious issue in all sports, at all levels? Absolutely. And it certainly happens. Now I'm just making this up because I've never witnessed a Mizzou softball practice. What if EE and his coaches have the players run multiple wind sprints, for conditioning. And one or more players just can't go anymore and bend over and puke. I have seen that before in other sports. Is that abuse? Is that overworking an athlete 'to a dangerous level? I bet some well meaning people would say yes. I think most equally well meaning people would say no. If a coach forced a player or player to keep running wind sprints in 100 degree weather, denied them water, and the player passed out or suffered heat exhaustion and had to be taken to a hospital by ambulance, did abuse occur? Yeah. So it really depends on what exactly you are talking about.
We just aren't going to agree on this I think. Strange that I have a much higher opinion of EE, and think there is still a decent chance he will be fired. You have a much lower opinion of him, and seem convinced he will stay. Time will tell, hopefully soon, for everyone involved. Regardless of what happens, I believe EE will be a changed coach from here on out, at least in small ways, and maybe in larger ways, and that's a good thing. For both him and for the players.
