I've typed out and deleted quite a few responses, and I'm frankly not comfortable posting any of them on a public forum. I don't mean to question the character of any current or former player but I'm concerned that any response I post can be misconstrued as a personal attack. I assure that you that I do not mean to call into question the character of any current or former player.
All I'll say: there's a great deal of research out there on abuse and authority figures--specifically, why victims won't speak up, and why abuse is often downright invisible even to those who witness it first-hand.
I realize how lame and evasive this post is, but this is a delicate issue, and a public forum like this is not the place to go into great detail on it. I'd rather prevent my words from being taken out of context or misconstrued than win this argument right now.
