It's fairly obvious that the majority of the fanbase (or at least the majority of the vocal fanbase) is very pro-Earleywine. If they fire him without releasing any justification, they're at risk of losing a great deal of fan support (and that's not even considering the fact that we'd have an interim coach, perhaps more transfers, and, all in all, a team not on the level we've grown accustomed to seeing lately). You're right that many fans will still stand for Earleywine if evidence is released, but the University has to do everything possible to win over the fans who stand in the middle.
Second, I should make more clear that, while I've hated how Earleywine has presented himself in public, I don't think that alone is worthy of fire him (though some do). In most cases, he uses heated arguments with umpires and statements with the media to inspire his own team (for example, the complaints about Alabama's dogpile were not actually about Alabama; we had a young team and he wanted to send a message that they must protect their home turf). I don't always like it, but nothing he's done along those lines has been THAT bad that he should be fired for them.
Finally, to your last point: perhaps I'm too cynical, but I believe the athletics department prioritizes winning over all else, including players' personal well-being. I would hazard a guess that the reason they've waited for the Title IX investigation is because only violations of that nature (and the ensuing political sh**storm that would result from retaining him after that) would convince them to fire him.
If there are no Title IX violations, considering the great deal of support from prominent ex-players (Chelsea Thomas, Emily Crane, and Sami Fagan specifically, though there are many, many others), the amount of fan support Earleywine has, and the fact that they've just spent a lot of money on this new stadium, it's very easy for the school to keep Earleywine, sweep anything else under the rug, and continue employing him and winning many games. That's why I think he will stay despite my personal opinion of him.
