"meritocracy is BS" is a platitude, I don't think there's a person alive who thinks everyone is capable of everything with hard work.

This is a pretty self-serving line of thinking imo and arguing a straw man.

Just b/c people have different systemic or societal (or personal or developmental, nurture, etc which this piece completely ignores) doesn't imply some level of meritocracy isn't actually valid.

Dismissing it by arguing that people espouse "absolute meritocracy" is a fallacy. I don't know a human being who thinks everything can be done by everyone with just more effort. that's a straw man of epic proportions.
