achievement society internalizing failure to reach one’s goals ignoring that there are external factors as well. This internalizing of failures also leads people to assume those who do not have success have a moral fault such as lack of ambition, discipline or effort. The consequences are social stigma for those who don’t find success and a greater lack of empathy towards them.

Success becomes the main metric of evaluating personal value.
