people were aware of their biases there wouldn't ever be one.
There are entire professions designed around addressing bias. Entire collegiate classes on the subject.
Let me illustrate. Get a group of 10 people together ask them a question. The question is "On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is a team's strength of schedule?" Do you think all 10 of those people are going to answer exactly the same number?
Now take all 10 and lets say they are all programmers. Tell them to write a model for team rankings. Do you think all of their models will give the same weighting to SoS?
The answer to this question is, no and no. Thus each person has a bias. Some believe SoS is more important, others believe less.
As I said, a computer program spits out what the programmer tells it to spit out.
The Dallas Cowboys are routinely rated in the top power rankings every year and we all see what happens with that every year.
