generally speaking, anything that happens slowly over time isn't covered by insurance. Foundations cracking, concrete settling, drywall cracking, etc. Thats considered a maintenance issue.

Almost always has to be a sudden & accidental event that caused the damage all at once in order to be covered by insurance.

Giant tree falls on your home and cracks your foundation = covered.

Foundation slowly settles and cracks over 20 years = not covered.
