coming out of high school" - Dick Vitale comment about Doug Smith during a Mizzou-kansas game while talking about what a great college player he had become. Essentially adding to the same narrative as above the he was not projected in high school as an All-American level collegeiate player, but became one nonetheless.

I think Vitale said that during the #1 vs #2 Mizzou win in Lawrence.
