He has among Detroit players:

# 11 Mark Macon (went to Temple: became the A10 all time leading scorer and #8 pick in NBA draft)

#41 Anderson Hunt (went to UNLV: won NCAA title and was MOP of 1990 tourney)

#54 Steve Smith (went to Michigan State: #5 pick in NBA draft)

Those are the only Michigan players I see listed, no Doug Smith. You are right, without the internet its hard find much info beyond the top players.
