& FOX would try to ditch them.

Texas and OU aren’t the media draw that they used to be when the Big XII was a viable conference. There’s no additional TV sets in Texas that ESPN doesn’t already own through A&M and Oklahoma doesn’t add enough subscribers to make them attractive or the PAC would have scooped them up when Boren was whoring them. It would only make sense if the media had a new paradigm ready, but they don’t.

The timing is off. It could be that A&M heard of the plan and made a preemptive announcement to sabotage the move well in advance.
