that market. For economic reasons but more importantly recruiting. An SEC stranglehold on Texas in addition to football hotbeds already in sec territory would almost assure the SEC football powerhouses for the foreseeable future.
While adding UT and OU would not add many more TVs it would make the SEC must watch TV every Saturday. No conference could compete with the SEC TV lineup. That would make the SEC brand more valuable and make more money in the long run.
As more people cut the cord I think we will see a move to more a la cart which would make branding more important than footprint.
