but the state legislature stepped in and ordered Texas not to move unless they took Texas Tech with them. Since both the University of Texas and the B1G are public institutions, an e-mail from Dodds to the B1G commissioner, Jim Delany, surfaced in which Dodds wrote that Texas “had a Tech problem” and couldn’t move. It’s a matter of being a public record.

Dodds’ machinations were what put the entire realignment into motion the next year, when Delany went looking for new candidates, announcing that Mizzou was one of them, among others.
