Last year my school left for spring break, announced that students would not be returning, gave teachers a single week to prepare and then went to fully virtual teaching. WE were one of the lucky schools in that we had the infrastructure in place but it was still an abject failure.
Given the time and money to create a system, train the teachers and prepare the students the results would definitely be better. But only for some students. We are finding that a vast majority of the student really struggle with totally online instruction. Most are simply not mature enough to focus on their own for the time required.
