Prior to the pandemic, some private education companies were pushing courses over the internet as an alternative to in person instruction, for home schoolers, colleges and trade schools.
The reports I have heard from people I know with kids in grades 1-12 is that their kids do not do well at all with "on-line classes." Apparently the kids pretty quickly lose interest in logging in for the classes.
What lessons does this experience teach us about on-line education. Should it be regarded as a viable substitute for in person classes. Should employers view the qualifications of applicates who claim on line education with skepticism.
I have always been skeptical of the on-line education approach, particularly for grades 1-12 because I view socialization as one of the primary goals of education.
