It really does not go into the colleges much

Most athletic departments operate in the red, and many of them are revenue neutral because it all goes to the salaries of the AD and coaching staffs. It is also used to fund the revenue loss sports.
Depending on surveys, some colleges will claim it does help with enrollment so they can then rape those students with ridiculous tuition.
Colleges (and their overpaid administrators) have bene protected and given power from government for far too long. The amount of wasted money on campuses is ridiculous....although I will admit they have also done a lot of contributions, but a house cleaning at so many levels is sorely needed.
