1. Charitable hospitals used to play a much larger role in the US medical care system, prior to the ramping up of govt involvement in the 1960s. So, it is not out of the question that these hospitals would once again fill a need that has been awkwardly filled by dis-affectionate bureaucrats.
2. The only real way to improve access at a general level to any market good (medical care included) is for the real price to be lowered. Prices can only be lowered if costs are lowered, and if there is competition. Costs will only be lowered in free markets, govt provided goods go in the opposite direction every year; there is never cost cutting only cost increases. So, people just have to be patient with markets, as they grow and expand and bring as many people as possible into their productive coverage.
