... interventionism (via bombs and bullets and tanks and jets) in places where they are not an actual threat.

So... for example. I understand that we were thrust into World War II because of foreign enemies abroad that brought it to our shores.

I understand that we had an obligation to go after Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban because they brought war to our shores.

I don't think anyone can claim those weren't instances of self defense against clear enemies that declared war on us (on our shores against our citizens)... not the other way around.

And then there are clear instances where we went to war just to go to war. Just for an excuse to create and sell bombs and jets and tanks and murder and destroy life. Vietnam. Cuba 1961. Iraq.

And there are countless instances of the CIA and the military involving themselves in "secret" in overthrows of other governments, assassinations of other world leaders, arming terrorist organizations to try and overthrow a current leader (i.e. what Obama/McCain did in Syria to try and remove Assad).
