As i said, if there was no embezzlement in my example, but investigating embezzlement would likely uncover other serious crimes, obstructing the investigation into embezzlement could in my opinion be criminal.
I am obviously not smart enough to be a lawyer, but the crime is obstruction of JUSTICE, not obstruction of and investigation into embezzlement.
