I think she is being hurt by her post Sophie class recruiting. They just aren’t getting much beyond Smith. Aldredge would be okay if they had last year’s squad but is more Dennis Johnson game manager than showtime Magic, if you will. I liked her better when she just had to not turn the ball over and hit an occasional spot up 3.
I’m not giving up on this frieshman class but the Sophs and junior classes just seem to be recruiting without system much in mind. They didn’t fit the old system that well and they aren’t great fits for this new deal. I guess I was expecting more from Troup but so far ..... the other folks seem like role players to towel wavers for their career. I hope MU is just in rebuild mode and will be a lot better after next season (giving them another year to get Franks, Blackwell, Berg, Levy integrated and accustomed to each other). Agree that the interior presence looks pretty scary. Linthacum should help by giving them some size to help defend and rebound. But she feels like a Rosburg or Nikko project. But maybe that is a bad take?
Again, I feel bad for Sophie because she is caught up in how I perceive things to be. And disappointed that Pingeton’s recruting really didn’t help Sophie that much. Frankly, Sophie was helped that Frericks had to medical RS or this may have become more apparent last year.
