It's a legal term called the fruit of the poisonous tree.
Flynn pled guilty, when the court (and flynn's attorneys) were under the impression that the entire process was started via a valid warrant.
In this situation, if the bogus steele dossier was used to wiretap flynn, start the investigation, it doesn't matter that flynn pled guilty, since it was started under false pretenses.
This prevents the police from getting fake warrants, and then using that illegally obtained evidence against someone.
FLynn's case is in limbo because of the steele warrant, and other info they may have hid from Flynn's attorneys.
