he was the best we could get at that time and Mack Rhodes wasn't going to start an exhaustive search that would yield the same result, plus he was packing to get out of town.
I think to be a head coach disillusion is necessary to move to the next level. You have to believe in yourself to not hear the reasons in your head why you will fail.
Part of arguments for hiring Odom were as you say, an extension of the GP train continuing to move. Losing Kul, and moving out the other coaches definitely allowed him to Odom all over this program.
