much discrepancy in thinking about the dates of the writings. Paul was in 50, Mark around 70, Mathew and Luke some 20 years later. And NONE of them were original followers. None of them. Paul personally knew James and Peter, but then Paul's interests are much more the Spiritual Christ than the man Jesus.
I read books based on scholarship. Raised Catholic I have learned a ton of stuff in the last 20 years. I don't know the Wellhausen theory. Curiously, it was the discovery of Nag Hamadi in the 1940s that has brought other writings, other gospels to light. Thomas, Mary, Judas. The interpretation that Orthodox won the day is history - that they destroyed the GNOSTICS is historical as well. I am interested in who this guy was that changed the world, so I am interested in all the takes.
