It employs 3000 employees there. The new HQ will more than double in size!!
Also, you must be unaware of current developments for new housing around that area with multiple new retail, office & residential devolpments being planned, including one that is preparing to break ground on the old Pruitt/Igoe site (it will include retail - a grocery store, etc & office plus residential.
A lot of that & more is finally the spark to begin to realize McKee's Northside Project to fruition from there to 40/64. In fact, they are about to start the work on expansion of the 40/64 / Jefferson intersection to be able to handle all the increased traffic due to the NSA HQ & increased business & residents.
Developers, who have been big on the Washington Ave corridor have doubled down & have been going crazier just before & since the NSA announcement when it became clear it would happen, as they recognize the great effect & impact it is going to have on that area for increased residents, consumers, business, etc.
The partnerships between the NSW Geospatial HQ & Cortex, SLU & Wash Unare limitless & is one of the primary reasons given by the NSA/Federal Gov for the STL location! The resulting business & economic impact of that will be more than positive!!
Increased residents, increasing & realizing a tax base of a long dormant & even net negative area, creating the collaboration for much more business & business creation!!
Just some of the huge positives that even a blind pessimist can't rain on!!
I'm for limited Federal Spending that results in the creation of synergistic infrastructure! This creates that in aces!! Taking STL's longest & most pressing negative & instantly giving it a 180 with the potential for exponential growth is one of those cases!
Oh & one person didn't give that $2 Billion & the is one of the instance where that money will create exponentially more money for many, including the Fed Gov. in the future. A pure symbiotic win/win use of public money!!
