In either case, there must be a second. If you try to attach pre-eminence to Matthew 1:25, it makes no sense without a second child, as there would be no other child over which to have pre-eminence.

Just get over it. They had sex. Joseph "knew" Mary in the biblical sense AFTER Christ was born.
