How was Gant a solid role player?

He was 6'8" 205lbs. Could not shoot well, was too skinny to be an effective rebounder, and really could just dunk or occasionally block shots coming from the help side. I actually watched the games, he would do really well at a low major, maybe even average 7ppg.
