He had no chance to recruit the first year and wasn't sure what he needed until he figured out who the problem kids were. And he had to take risky kids who were all that were available. Don't forget a holdover coach who sabatoged everything and an ncaa investigation that he had to be upfront about with every recruit. Not good for anyone. Only a sneaky liar of a coach could have kept the program near NIT level and that is not what we needed.
The current sophmores are on him though even though that woild have been a tough recruting situation.
