after coaching under Romar at Pepperdine before that.
Prior to joining Romar's staff, Bennett spent more than a decade coaching in the West (Southern California and a few years in Idaho). He played in San Diego. Grew up in Arizona. So he's spent all but two or three years of his life in that part of the country.
Good bet that he has almost no connections in the Midwest or South. His current roster is made up of kids from California, Idaho, Arizona, Oregon and Australia, half the roster being from the latter. He doesn't venture East of the Rockies.
The Australian connection is a nonstarter in the SEC. There's not enough talent there to build a winning SEC program. The West Coast connections would likewise not be productive here. There's too much local competition to consistently land difference makers from there.
