you're going to expand by 2 or 4 teams (which are decent, but not great), so you can make a short-term windfall (life of contract only) based upon the gap between what you get paid by the network and what you have to pay to said teams as lesser members. So, at the end of things, let's say you can do the following:
1) Expand by 4 teams, get $80 mill from current contract
2) Pay said 4 teams $10 mill per, getting a $10 mill per team, per year "bonus" to full members. That's about $1 million per year, per team expanded.
How long is the contract? For an extra $4 million per year, you're going to water down your conference long term? What happens at the end of the contract? Who's going to pay you premium prices for UT/OU and will they be willing to pay the same for a lesser team just to get it?
