I was at Mizzou in the seventies. Every time I thought we might have a good enough squad to make some noise, we'd inexplicably lose to inferior teams. It was maddening.

Yes, there were some great victories, like Notre Dame and Soutgern Cal, but there were also terrible losses. The result was mediocrity. We never lost fewer than 4 games, even playing 1 less a season than today.

I'll take the last 10 years over those 10 years any day.
