DEI hire is since you call Gates one. That is why you get so mhch crap on here. Gates had a good coaching resume when he was hired at MU. Was he the best MU could get at the time? Maybe, maybe not. He was however the 4th black head basketball coach hired at MU and not a DEI hire.
