the ncaa actually owns. they don't own the tv contracts, the conferences do. that breakaway league would obviously implement their own oversight.
And if they take away the 40-64 largest schools from the NCAA, you better believe the tv networks will do whatever they can to get out of or cut the funds for the ncaa tournament and want to show the tournament of the big boys. And a case can probably be made that since the ncaa is technically only an amalgamation of the schools, that those 40-64 schools actually own a notable percentage of the tournament.
