breakaway group of schools would look like based on a pro sports model with divisions but everyone shares money equally.

64, 56, and 48 so far. Who's in and out is basically 100% football driven. Not sure yet when Mizzou would be on the bubble, but it's not at 48.

8x8 with 8-team playoff
7x8 with 1 wildcard
6x8 with 2 wildcards

The idea I like here is 7 division games and a division championship would be like a conference championship is now.
Everybody plays a FCS team on Labor Day weekend, but it does not count on the record.
Then play 11 games....7+4.
4 non-division games are up to schools to schedule and allows for a lot of traditional rivalries to be kept alive if the teams want.
It would be a debate if all games or only division games would towards division title.
