• The B1G offered Mizzou a junior membership.
• Mizzou countered by demanding a full membership.
• The B1G scoffed at that and offered the junior membership to their 2nd choice, Nebraska.
• Mizzou then joined the SEC as a full member a year later.

Again, Mizzou definitely *overplayed its hand* with the B1G and was lucky to get an SEC invite after that debacle — and for full membership, no less.

It all worked out for the best.
