it has helped nebraska even if adding them hasn't helped the rest of the conference. It gives schools access to research and collaborations they wouldn't otherwise be able to be a part of, as well as cost savings. Every school in the country would like to be part of it. US News rankings are generally seen as a joke, only a fraction of their metric scores actual academic reputation.
