imagine if a white AD said "we need to have more student-athletes that match the skin color of our coaches"... then black players started getting their scholarships pulled to make room for white players that weren't as talented.

That's perfectly analogous to what's happening here. There would be lawsuits from every direction, and rightfully so. Giving one racial group preference over another is a violation of the Civils Rights Act.
