should be valued and poor ones weeded out. We should be encouraging people to become teachers through competitive pay and incentive systems that keep teachers on the cutting edge, not simply showing up and doing what they did 20 years ago. That doesn’t resolve some of the behavioral issues we’ve discussed but it’s a place to start.
