learning does not work for the masses. But it is a very good option for students who cannot handle the normal school day.
At my previous school, pre-Covid, I had a couple of recovery classes where students used an online system to recover credits. Almost all of the students sat there for an hour every day and did nothing. But I had one student, a senior, who worked her tail off every day. In a single semester, she recovered 11 credits. Regular school did not work for her but online learning was perfect.
Most of the students that need to be removed from the normal school would not be successful with virtual learning. But they are not successful with regular learning either so nothing is really lost. What is gained is the instructional time they are no longer wasting for their classmates when their teachers are forced to deal with their disruptions.
