involved in using them and in stopping usage would certainly be called for.

But that still leaves the huge issue of whether people could/should be committed to mental institutions against their will, especially if they have not committed any crimes.

Ditto for whether their weapons could/should be taken away or their access to them could/should be restricted if they have not committed any crimes.
