By the way, not increasing state funding is not the same as decreasing it.
When it comes to teacher pay I am currently in a KC suburb and my pay is comparable, but slightly better than that what I could get at the 'top districts' in the area.
By comparison, if I were to go back to KCMO and teach I would get roughly a $15k raise. I taught in KC for 20 years and no longer wish to deal with their dysfunction and I am currently drawing retirement from them and would have to give that up to return.
Underfunded inner-city schools is mostly a myth these days. How those districts spend those funds is not.
