I provided a definition for sacrifice. His question revolved around why you could call something that is within the realm of one's job a sacrifice. One could give up eating out for a year so they can afford to buy something for their child. That is sacrifice they make for the real or perceived greater good which is my definition. You are the one who narrowed it down to one very specific use of the term as a reason you don't like it.
