with Warren Powers, who was probably a good coach, not recruiting very well. He was not horrible but it was starting to slip after Al's players started graduating. Woody was brought in to right the recruiting ship and he could recruit but was not a CEO of a program. That is where it spiraled out of control. Stull lovers will tell you that the university did not support the program. There is some truth to that but that wasn't the biggest problem. He had a good staff, but was an arrogant recruiter pyssing off high school coaches which didn't help his cause. Those kids moved on to Wisky, Iowa, Nebraska etc. Reality is he was brought in as a turnaround guy but had only a 31-27 record in lesser conferences without finishing above second place in his previous two stops. Larry Smith then came in and he, along with Devine's fundraising, righted the ship for a few years. For those of us that lived through all of that 13 years of hell, Larry was a damn miracle worker that walked on water. That is the reality of what Pinkel walked into compared to what this person threw out on youtube. We were bottom five in the entire country back in the Woody and Stull eras.
