A couple of thoughts...

I think it's a bit of a misnomer that Barry couldn't recruit at all. He had that one year where there was a bumper crop of kids from STL and they pretty much all went elsewhere (and few have been heard from since by the way).

I don't think he was a great recruiter, but he held his own. Much of recruiting those is charisma and some coaches have it but most don't. Barry didn't.

You can make up for charisma by winning and/or cheating. Barry didn't cheat and he didn't win enough.

I do think Drinkwitz has brought back some much needed excitement and anticipation to the program that Barry never could. He also has a game plan with social media both which he's been using as a conduit with recruting and the fan base. That's a must in 2020 and especially now with the pandemic.

If CED can't win on the field, he'll be gone in a few years too though. I think a lot if anyone looks better than ever these days it's GP because GP was the guy who was a decent but never great recruiter but could coach up players.

As many have said, I think Barry will end up being a very good DC for the rest of his career.
