There is a big difference between this particular instance

and the recent revelations about the FBI, NSA etc. although both involve an abuse of power.

In this particular case we witnessed the abuse of power by an individual cop & apparently indifference or a culture of looking the other way by his fellow cops.

In the case of the FBI, NSA etc. the abuse of power was by the leaders... apparently going all the way up to President Obama himself.

Another difference is that I don't think the cop was trying to kill George. I imagine he was trying to be a tough guy and didn't realize that he was in fact in danger of killing him.

Obama, Comey, Brennan, Clapper, et al knew they were committing very serious crimes, likely including treason and did so quite intentionally.
