actual point guards today. Some players would be more productive for their team and thus their team actually better if they'd worked more on PG skills than trying to be a scorer. But that's just not today's mentality. Everyone wants to be a scorer first to the detriment of a lot of teams.
It actually goes back to coaching at the lower levels. They seem to let kids do whatever they want now instead of telling them this is what the team needs you to do. My local high school is a prime example. They have a couple of 6'7" kids. Both spend as much time roaming around the three point line as they do in the middle. They could have learned to post up and dominate inside. But instead they want to shoot the three. They make a couple a game. But they could be scoring every time in the lane.
The adage of the more you can do the better you can help the team is true. But too many today become mediocre at everything instead of learning to be really good at a couple of things. Its just part of what has made basketball not as good today.
