You don't have a problem with my beliefs as long as they do not impact you or others who have your beliefs.
There are 2 options:
1. There is a God
2. There is no god... or at least we cannot know whether there is or not & therefore we must act as though in fact there is no god sans satisfactory scientific proof to the contrary.
Those two different sets of beliefs have ramifications with regards to how we act and to the laws and societal expectations. At times those ramifications are in conflict with each other.
You say that you don't mind what I or others believe, and that is true, as long as those beliefs are not going to have ramifications that you do not like. Of course, we could say the exact same thing about your beliefs.
I think we can all agree, however, that one and only one of those potential belief systems, # 1 or #2 is true, and also that the other one is false.
We are left with Pontius Pilate's question... What is truth?
As individuals and as a society, we are left to decide which one is in fact true.
