playoffs is at the root of this "pay for play"? That was biggest reason why the presidents supported the bowl system and the polls for decades. They didn't want the players playing NFL length schedules and playoffs as scholar athletes. I said years ago this would happen.

You had 10 games and then six or seven weeks later just one game for teams making the bowls. That's it.
