He's one of the root causes to me of the downhill slide of college football. He pushed and pushed (and is still pushing) for playoffs and now expanded playoffs, feeding his desire to make college football more and more like the NFL.
Ooops - now with the participating players closing in on NFL like seasons of 15 or more games, particularly if their team make Fowler's "expanded playoff" system he doesn't like the "pay for play" that has sprouted from it nor the chaos it will bring.
