Don't care what you believe. I do business with several local entities, such as bank, farm supply, hardware, veterinary, bulk fuel, etc. Each of them tell me it takes at least ten days for locally addressed mail to reach them. I used to figure two to three days for mail delivery within the same zip code, but now figure ten to 12 days.
