The point of the article is that parents and kids, under the allure of the college scholarship chase and the NBA early-entry money -- are specializing too early and, likely more important, playing far too much, as many as 100+ "games" per year from age 9 through 18. That specialization is creating imbalance in muscle and joint development - over emphasis on the mechanics and muscle motors driving explosive movement at the expense of overall body core strength, range of motion, flexibility, balance and joint strength.
