Did the AD offer advice to him on who to put on his staff at Missouri?

Prior to MU, QS had 2 years as an administrative assistant and then 2 years as associate head coach under Coach K. It wouldn't surprise me if Alden had a say in who QS took on as assistants.

Supposedly, Ron Guenther (Illinois AD) insisted Wayne McClain be retained as an assistant coach and that was the deal breaker for Dana Altman taking the job. Illinois was left with Brucey Weber instead.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
